Spirited Woman 2013 Directory launches today.

I am honored to be a part of this online publication about women who have reinvented themselves and are successful at doing what they love.

No Boobs About It is the feature nonprofit organization in the Spirited Woman Directory. Being a part of this publication gives me the opportunity to reach new audiences of women to share information about navigating breast cancer should it touch their lives and the lives of their families and friends.

Spirited Woman 2013 Directory is published by Nancy Mills, the founder of Spirited Woman. The 2013 Directory is about women inspiring women; women empowering each other to be all they can be.

How did I come to be featured in the Spirited Woman Directory? It all began with an invitation and a challenge.

In early 2012, Nancy Mills invited me to contribute a three part post to the international Spirited Woman e-newsletter. The theme for this three-part series…women reinventing themselves. In my case, reinventing myself after breast cancer.

That invitation to write for Spirited Woman challenged me to take an inventory of how I made the transition from active treatment to a new beginning as a survivor.

By the time I finished the three-part series and submitted it to Spirited Woman for publication I had the outline, format and topics for a series of online workshops that are scheduled to begin in February 2013.

The workshops, “New Beginnings” will focus on successfully transitioning from active treatment to life as a survivor.

The responses I received from readers of that three-part series made me realize there are many of us who need and want support when finishing  treatment and trying to find that new beginning so critical to getting on with life as survivors. We know that going back to life as it was, as we were before breast cancer is not an option for most of us. We have been through too much. Our body image is not the only thing that has changed. Our thinking had also changed. Time and how we use it becomes very important to us.

So as the Spirited Woman 2013 Directory launches, I just want to say, “Thank you Nancy and Spirited Woman for the inspiration and the honor!”
