Smoothie King “Change A Meal”

As most of you, I began writing here to share my life’s journey of weight loss, of running, of recovering and then doing it all over again. This theme never changes with me, and today I get to tell you about a product that is both about healthy diet and about proper nutrition for running.

My longtime friend, Kimmi, was the manager of my local Smoothie King several years ago – back before my car accident back when I was running nearly every day. Kimmi’s “back story” is that she started out at a weight of over 300 pounds (I don’t remember the exact details). She became the manager of Smoothie King and began replacing one meal a day with a smoothie from Smoothie King, and as a result, she lost about 150 pounds.  

Somewhere in that story of Kimmi’s weight loss journey, “yours truly” (me!) dropped into that local Smoothie King store and struck up a conversation with Kimmi. By the end of that conversation, I had invited Kimmi to join in on a local 5k I was doing and the rest is history. We became good friends and later we even became co-presidents of our local running club together! 

The point of the story? Kimmi’s weight loss was as a result of her replacing one meal a day with a smoothie from Smoothie King, so I have seen in “real life” that it works. As I confessed to everyone in my Tuesday Training Report, I am currently at the heaviest weight that I’ve been since 2000 and I’m making some changes to try and address this situation so that I can improve my health first, and shave some time off my very slow running secondly.

When I saw Smoothie King‘s #ChangeAMeal promotion, it reminded me of Kimmi’s story and I thought maybe I’d give it a shot. Although the local Smoothie King has closed, I really lucked out because there’s actually one that’s really close to my office so I decided to give it a shot.  Smoothie King has 20 Meal Replacement Smoothies that span Slim, Fitness, and Wellness blends, all with the goal of helping you reach your goal of a healthier lifestyle.  

Today I chose the High Protein Almond Mocha with a little added “diet down” enhancer for lunch. The person handling my smoothie seemed to be very knowledgeable about the different shakes. She answered all of our questions and helped us make our choices for today, and enlightened me about some of the other smoothies I wouldn’t have ordinarily chosen and made me excited to try them in the future. I returned to the office and enjoyed it while I got a little work done on my lunch hour!
