Sleek Palette Storm

So the big buzz in the beauty and blogging world at the moment is the release of the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. Firstly, I would like to make it clear that this is not, I repeat NOT a review of that palette. Mainly because I think £36 is such a lot of money, not just to spend on a product but to spend in general. If like me the thought of spending over £30 on an eye shadow palette brings you out in cold sweats, why not try a Sleek Palette?

In the beauty blog circle this palette needs no introduction and I have never seen a bad review of it. Priced at £6.00, this palette is a sixth of the price of the Naked 2 Palette. Don’t be put off by the price tag, just because it is inexpensive it doesn’t mean that the product is cheap!
I opted for the Storm Palette, which includes 12 eye shadows including golds, browns, blues, green and a black.  It has enough shades in it to create a soft day look and a super seductive smokey eye all in one neat and attractive palette. The shadows are very pigmented, giving bright and strong shades that are long lasting and easy to apply. The majority of the shadows are very shimmery and give good coverage, however for some reason three of the shades aren’t quite as shimmery and are a lot more matte and less bold on application. These are shown in the swatches below.

The palette is attractive and sturdy and I would feel confident carry it around in my bag without worrying that it would get damaged or spill out. This palette comes complete with a mirror and double wand, again making it perfect for traveling with.
I do not own either of the Naked Palettes so this isn’t a criticism of them or they quality. However, in my opinion the Sleek Palettes provide as much eye shadow as one person needs. If you do want to read about the Naked Palette there is a great review over at Makeup Savvy.
Just for a comparison £36.00 could buy you a whole new makeup bag:
Sleek palette (£6.00)Maxfactor False Lash EffectFusion Mascara (10.99)Maxfactor Smooth EffectFoundation (7.99) Famous by Sue Moxley Shimmer Brick (£6.50)Barbara Daly Nail Polish (£3.00)
So for £34.38 you could buy a new foundation, an eye shadow palette, mascara, a shimmer brick and a nail polish. You could have all of these for less than the price of the Naked 2 Palette!
