Skin Problems

Since being a teenager I have always had problems with my skin.  I was lucky enough not to have full blown acne but I did suffer quite badly with spots and have a few mild acne scars.

Since having children my skin disease, Hidradentis Suppurativa has been getting worse and I am left with a lot of scarring on my skin which makes it very difficult to find clothes to wear, particularly in the summer when I want to wear nice dresses or strappy tops.  It makes me very self conscious and I can sometimes see people looking.

I do sometimes think about having treatment to try and remove or at least lessen the scarring, however, at the moment have got no further than researching it!

If I do decide to go for treatment I would certainly have a look into acne scar removal at the same time – in for a penny, in for a pound!  There are lots of treatments available such as chemical peels and laser treatment.  I always assumed it would involve surgery so it is encouraging to know there are treatments out there which I could have done quickly and relatively painlessly.

I really envy people on television who seem to have perfect skin.  When I was younger I could hide it under mounds of make up, however, the older I get the more it affects me as I don’t want to be doing the school run covered in lots of make up – that would probably cause more attention than the skin problems!

It is certainly something I will be looking into in the not too distant future as I would like to have skin I can be proud of and show off.

If you are thinking about any cosmetic surgery for skin problems or other issues, why not take a look at the Blog over at sk:n which has lots of great topics to read up on.
