Sights and Sounds of Turkey...

By Rubytuesday
My oh my, we have been busy little bees todayWe got an early startAnd were out of the hotelWashed, dressed and fedBefore 9amWe got the Tunel Funicular to the Kurokoy tram stopAnd from there to Sultanahmet First stop was Topkapi PalaceWhich was the former home of the sultansWhere we queued for an hourBut we did get to see an 86 carat diamond at the end of itWas it worth the wait?Mmmmm not quite sure
Next stopHagia SophiaWhich is one of the worlds greatest architectural monuments We wandered around for quite a while in thereIt was so nice to go inside And feel the cool breezeAs the day was so very hot
We then went to the Basilica CisternWhich is a vast underground water systemBuilt by the Romans in 532It was really impressiveBelow ground And held up by 336 columnsIt was so darkThe only light from a few lampsLighting up the waterAnd the huge fish in there
Anyway Enough with the wordsAnd on to the photos....
