In some other posts I have mentioned that my favorite thing to do is read, whether that be fiction {most of the time}, poetry or just quotes, it's my favorite thing to do. My favorite author is John Green, I've read all his books, Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars are of course my dearest most favorite books.
However, after reading all of his I needed to dive into a new author, a new kind of book and I'd seen the Shatter Me book around my Tumblr dashboard and developed my knowledge on it, and read the final chapter of the second book that night. Already I was hooked. That Wednesday night I ordered the book, literally I must have sat at my door for three days waiting for it to be pushed through the letterbox. Saturday afternoon {yes, afternoon, I had a hangover and got on a bus home at 5:20am} I found the Amazon package laid on my dining room table.
I began reading this Sunday night as I was far too tired and must have slept all through Sunday due to my adventurous drinking weekend—a life I am not cut out for—give me a dvd or a book any weekend. I stayed up way too late because I was just simply addicted. In the first night I read one hundred and twenty-seven pages and last night I read another hundred. I so desperately want to pace it out, but I just can't stop!
There are three core characters in this book, named Juliette, Warner and Adam. Juliette has a gift/curse—it differentiates between the two—where she cannot touch anyone, otherwise they'll be seriously injured and possibly die. She was sent away at fourteen and now at seventeen she's leaving the aslyum she's been locked up in to be reluctantly apart of Sector 45, run by Warner.
Of course, already you know there's going to be a huge love triangle, as there is in mostly every teenage book. This is one thing I don't understand, I don't think writers realize how hard it is to get one person to like you, never mind two! My ship throughout has been Warner and Juliette, though his book really focuses on Adam and Juliette, but na, not into those two.
I care an incredible amount for Warner—though described as a monster and on the outside, and the way you see him in this book, you'd agree—he's my favorite character in the book, I already understand this nineteen year old because I've learnt his back story and he's just such a broken character and they're the kind that I instantly gravitate towards. And I cannot wait to read Destroy Me from his personal view, I've already skim read a few chapters and I haven't even finished this book. I have to ruin everything for myself.
I absolutely adore this book cover, going off the story here, but I just think it is so beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous, and I just keep showing it everyone telling them to look at how pretty my new book is. They don't get it. All the books are similar to the original design, usually just changing based on seasons apparently. But I just think it's such a simple, yet beautiful design. And the feel of the book, there is no worry about bending this books spine.
The way Tahereh Mafi writes is literally amazing, this woman's use of metaphors is incredible, I'm a sucker for a few good metaphors, but Tahereh's are literally brilliant. They're just continuous and flow so naturally and beautifully. I am incredibly envious of how gracefully she writes.
I cannot wait to read Destroy Me, buy Unravel Me nor can I wait for Ignite Me that comes out four days after my birthday. I can't fully give a detailed description of how I feel about this book as I haven't finished it—yet I know everything that happens—but once I have, there shall be a full review up here. I just love this book so much already and am in desperate need to finish. If I read now I'll finish by midnight. Hundred pages is nothing.
Update: Camera has been found, yet is still on its deathbed and therefore I'm struggling to get good quality pictures.
