Congratulations to amazing tennis player Serena Williams who has announced that she is 20 weeks pregnant. This means that she won the Australian Open title when she was 8 weeks into this pregnancy, just proving how remarkable a person she really is. The announcement means that I can look back to the time of conception of the baby and this equates to around the start of December.
At that time, Serena was experiencing a Mars opposition, and her natal Mars sits in the 5th house of children, suggesting to me that this was a planned pregnancy. Mars is all about taking actions and making positive decisions, and of course Mars is the planet that rules the sexual act in lovemaking. That 5th house Mars (the 5th house is also the house of sports and games) received several other aspects. An inconjunct from Pluto, the planet of the underworld and of transformation and inevitable change, giving her a permanent adjustment to get used to. Transiting Saturn making a trine to her Mars from the 8th house of sex, intimacy, change and sharing (bringing up a child is a shared objective) was bringing her long term responsibility to take on in the form of a child. Finally transiting Jupiter was not only giving her a Jupiter return (very joyous and lucky) but also the sextile to Mars was expanding her life and bringing her excitement for the future.
The big thing though is the position of transiting Pluto, perched just before her Midheaven at that time and now just into her 10th house. Pluto turns retrograde today as she made this announcement showing a change in her personal and public direction. Very soon it will take her career in a different direction, and I believe that the onset of motherhood I think will prompt her to retire from top level sport. That's what Pluto is doing, changing her public and professional life forever, and for the best reason possible too
