Phoebe Garrison will stop at nothing to steer her niece, Amanda Jarvis, away from the newly discovered affections of her childhood friend, Tyler Armstrong, His Navy SEAL career path is a far cry from the high-society lifestyle Phoebe envisions for Amanda. And when billionaire J.E. Bridwell tries to protect Amanda from her aunt’s controlling nature, Phoebe doesn’t miss the opportunity to use his interference to her advantage. She comes up with a plan that is sure to break Amanda’s devotion to Tyler, sending her right into a future with one of the world’s wealthiest bachelors and giving Amanda the kind of life Phoebe feels that she deserves.

Sometime ago, author Sara Jane Jacobs reached out inquiring as to whether I’d be interested in reading this book. I gladly said yes, but tragically I added it to my “TBR” books and didn’t have a chance to read it until recently.

Season of Deception by Sara Jane Jacobs is the sequel to her first book, Season of Hope. While I felt like this book was a standalone, I’m glad I read the first book first so that I had more background and understanding as to what’s happening with the characters.

Amanda’s best friend (and man she secretly loves), Tyler is deployed and leaves Amanda with a kiss she’s certain means he feels the same way. But then Amanda receives a letter that tells her he got married. It looks legitimate – it seems to be Tyler’s handwriting so she can’t stay stuck in denial anymore – but that kiss?  The letter forces Amanda to accept that he just doesn’t feel the same about her and she has to move on.  Amanda’s Aunt Phoebe wants her to move on as well.

And then the handsome, young and British billioniare, Eric Bridwell shows up and tries to protect Amanda from the way her Aunt Pheobe tries to control her life.  Of course, this situation only causes Aunt Phoebe to use Eric to her advantage and causes Amanda to move forward with one of the world’s wealthiest bachelors.  This way Phoebe believes that Amanda will have the kind of life that she deserves.

The characters are very well developed, and the story tugs on the hearts of readers while they wonder who actually gets the girl and who will walk away with a broken heart.  I’m looking forward to book 3 in this series!

Season of Deception by Sara Jane Jacobs Sara Jane lives life Coram Deo along the Emerald Coast of Florida, with her cat Selah and her delightful offspring, Colby, Jack, and Tuesday. She enjoys being with family and pretty much anything that involves the great outdoors.  One of her favorite ways to relax is spending the day with her grandsons, Noah and Elias. She lives a short drive from the beach and considers frequent trips to put her feet in the sand a necessary part of routine health maintenance.

Sara Jane Jacobs dabbled in writing for thirty years before deciding to send her work to a publisher in 2016. Her first book, Season of Hope was published in March of 2017. Book two, Season of Deception, followed in August of the same year. The two stories were originally written as one manuscript (Season of Deception) but she was forced to divide them in order to align with submission guidelines and that’s how Season of Hope was born!
