Saving Space with the Bugaboo Bee

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

A couple of weeks ago I told you all about setting up the Bugaboo Bee and the great features it has.

One of the areas I really wanted to expand upon was the space saving aspect of the Bee.

I love to have a nice sturdy pushchair, however, can often struggle space wise both at home and whilst out and about. I think the Bee is a really good compromise. It is, what I would call a proper pushchair, not just a stroller, but it also folds up very small which is perfect when you are short on space.

We don't really have anywhere to store a pushchair without putting it in the garage which is not practical when I need it on a daily basis for the school run. We have to keep it in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs. Previous pushchairs have been quite time consuming to fold and unfold and so have taken up a lot of space.

Often we have had to squeeze past the pushchair to get up the stairs and I was fed up with tripping over them!

The Bee is really easy and quick to fold and unfold and, when it is folded, it is very small. It has been really handy to be able to fold it up at night when returning from the school run and popping it up against the wall at the bottom of the stairs. It gives us much more space in the hallway and no more tripping over rogue wheels!

We are lucky to have a large car and have had no problems fitting the Bee into the boot on day trips out. However, at Christmas, we made a trip up to Edinburgh to stay with family. As we were staying for Christmas our car was fully laden with Christmas presents not to mention a large suitcase, numerous coats and boots.

After we had packed all that we needed to take we had a panic and didn't think we would have room for a pushchair. Thankfully we were able to fit the Bee onto the parcel shelf with very little fuss. Because it folds very thin and is reasonably light, it sat on top perfectly with still a little room to see out of the back window!

I hate using buses, particularly when I have the children with me and need a pushchair. Not only is it a nightmare to get on the bus, if there is another pushchair on, you have to fold it whilst trying to control your children at the same time!

Usually if I have to use public transport I will take a small stroller that I know I can fold up quickly if needs be.

Whilst up in Edinburgh we travelled by bus and I have to say the Bee was incredibly easy to manoeuvre on and off and, because it is relatively small, we had no problems squeezing it into the pushchair space - we even had room to sit down on the seats!

Thankfully we didn't have to fold it up, however, I would feel very confident taking the Bee on public transport with me, even if I were on my own with the children. It takes seconds to collapse and is light enough for me to lug into the storage compartments.

Over Christmas we were out and about a fair bit whether it be shopping or meeting family and friends. I hate going to the shops at Christmas with children in tow. It is always so busy and, do people give you room to get a pram through?!

The Bee has been so handy whilst out and about. It is small enough to squeeze through tight spaces and very manoeuvrable to avoid people when they just step out in front!

Whilst out and about, obviously you have to stop for sustenance! In busy coffee shops and restaurants it has been great being able to easily fold the Bee and prop it up against chairs, highchairs, in the corner, etc, out of the way and not causing anyone any bother at all.

It has been great having a really sturdy pushchair that Little Miss A has been comfy in, and able to sleep in, which has also been so handy for storage and space saving too.

If you are short on space at home or in the car, or you use public transport regularly, I really would recommend looking into the Bee.
