UPDATE: Trailer 2
A new trailer for the Lasse Hallström film, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, has just been released. I didn’t know what to expect when I saw this title, but guess what? There’s Salmon Fishing in Yemen in this film. The film stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt is about the act of trying to introduce the act of salmon fishing to the Middle Eastern country of Yemen. The film is written by Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionare), and based on the book by Paul Torday.
Check out Yahoo Movies for the trailer.
UPDATE: Trailer 2
The official plot description:
A visionary sheik has a big dream — to bring salmon fishing to the desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative to turn his dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain’s leading fisheries expert who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister’s overzealous press secretary latches on for its potential as a ‘good will’ story. Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.
The trailer goes from being a political struggle about looking for something good in a war so bad. Then switches to how this simple act of good brings two people together in a delightful romance. I wouldn’t of given this movie a try based on the name, but now I will and you should too.
