Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), is an ex-CIA agent who has turned into an international criminal. He acquires a very important file regarding a group of double agents and bumps into trouble on his way out. He has no other choice but to hand himself over to the American consulate. Later on he gets transferred into a secret CIA safe house in Cape Town, South Africa where he meets the housekeeper, Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds), a desperate new agent who’s been trying to get himself promoted into a better place. While Frost is being interrogated, a group of gangsters attacks the safe house to take him out. Things get pretty intense and Weston finally gets a chance to prove himself worthy for a better job. He takes Frost out of the safe house and tries to escape from the gang and get Frost into another secured safe house. In the mean time he finds out that something is terribly wrong in the plan and that's where the thrills starts to get wild.
Acting performance and Actions
Denzel Washington is the guy who liven up this movie. At one moment he goes from bad guy to good guy in just a second. He wouldn’t hesitate to pull a crazy stunt to attempt his escape. There are some moments that he does amazing facial expressions changing his face in a second, making it look like he’s a maniac. Ryan Reynolds also does a great job in his part. He perfectly resembles himself as a untrained agent and often shows how he is new to his job at CIA. When talking about actions, movie is totally filled with them. I’m not even sure if you would even try to fast-forward in this movie because you will be biting your nails from the beginning to the end. Safe House manages to keep you curious and also shows a skillful side of Washington with some awesome moves and fights.
