Do not even pretend you haven’t missed me.
I only have a minute to post as we just drove into Vegas from Monterey (about 7.5 hours) – Ken and Sam went to return the car at the airport and I am sitting in my suite on the 40th floor of the Palazzo drinking a glass of wine. This is a very difficult and stressful thing to do.
This entire trip (including in San Fran) I played the “It’s our anniversary” card, which has scored us some major upgrades and bottles of complementary champagne. Well, it’s true it IS our 18th anniversary, but that was a month ago. Being being that we never really celebrated THAT much I thought it was only fair we get some belated attention.
So, here is our view tonight.
The kids have a separate room, which is the only way to go anymore. I love my kids, but having a wall between us at night is kind of essential. Last night we were all in the same room and everyone slept like crap. Having a 15 year old boy and a 12 year old girl share a bed is probably illegal.
I have so much to tell you about this trip including being spit on, our tour bus getting into an accident and our cable car breaking down, but for now, I’ll just tell you this.
I had a long run scheduled for today, so I got up super early to get it in before the long drive to Vegas. I ran along the coast from Monterey to Pebble Beach and you could not wipe the smile off of my face.
Cool, drizzly weather. Seals everywhere. The sound of waves crashing the entire time. Except for losing a $20 bill along the way, it was 15 miles of perfection. I will never get over how amazing a run makes you feel (especially when you will be in the car for 8 hours with your family for the rest of the day). Running is truly better than therapy.
Okay, time for a another glass of wine and to hit the town with the family. I am used to coming to Vegas and doing it adult style with lots of drinking and gambling, so a family tri p will be a bit edited and toned down. Still will love everyone minute of it.
