Road Tripping to Nundle, NSW

By Blondeambition @BrookeFalvey

A couple of weekends ago I packed up my little wheelie suitcase and left the big smoke of Brisbane for the picturesque pastures of Nundle, New South Wales.

Located in the New England region of New South Wales, Nundle is a 45-minute drive from Tamworth, tucked away at the base of the Great Dividing Range.

A quaint little town, Nundle came into its own in the mid 1800’s when gold was discovered nearby at “The Hanging Rock“. Within weeks there were hundreds of gold diggers on the fields with prospectors coming from as far afield as Europe and China.

These days, the population of Nundle sits at just under 300 people, so you can imagine the excitement when more than a hundred visitors rolled into town for the wedding of Chris and Claire, whose parents own an amazing property on the hill overlooking the town.

Given I drove into town on one of the hottest days they’d had this year, I headed straight for the town pool which was opened in the 1960s and found myself a bit of water in between the school kids and the ladies having what I suspect was their daily catch up hanging off the starters blocks in the deep end.

I then caused a bit of a stir with the fellas at the pub by walking the 50m back to my motel in my bikini with my towel wrapped around my waist.

Seems I still know how to make an entrance!
