I felt it was time to revisit a traumatic event from the past. It’s not one I’m going to relive on my blog as the events are here if you look back over a year ago.
Everyone Has Trauma
The difference is, how we handle the traumatic event. This time last year, my world was turned upside down. Those of you whom I’m friends with or have been long time followers, know what I’m speaking of.
I care not to say it out loud.
When Trauma Hits, You Need to Make a Decision
When traumatic events come into your life, you have two decisions to make:
- Am I am going to let this even destroy me?
- Am I going to get over it, get past it, and heal?
I evaluated both of these questions and decided YES to both.
Was My Decision the Right One?
I believe it was the right one for me. Many friends offered advice and I listened, but ultimately I had to go with my gut.
Am I happy I did?
If you would have asked me at the time of my event, I would have told you this is the first time I’ve ever been defeated. However, even during my weakest moment, I knew it would not be the death of me. I hit rock bottom from devastation. I cried more than someone should ever cry. For the first time in a long time, I turned to my higher power to look for answers and the strength to push on.
Am I happy I did?
At this very moment, almost a year later, Absolutely. My life has changed for the better and I am a stronger person because of the event. My relationship is stronger and a happy one, I believe. I overcame a traumatic event, allowed myself to Forgive, and continue to heal from my wounds.
The Power to Move on from a Betrayal
We all have been Betrayed in some way or another. How we decide to handle it, it solely up to US, not our friends, family, or co-workers. It’s so often easy to give advice but we all must remember, there is always two-sides to every situation. It takes two to destroy a relationship and two to bring it back to life.
Forgiveness Makes Us a Better Person
It is very hard to Forgive someone who has hurt you; especially if that someone has wounded you to the extreme. However, if you believe that person is worth it, PLEASE give them the benefit of the doubt to Right their Wrong; and give them the chance to earn Forgiveness.
Time Heals All Wounds
If you’ve been Betrayed in the past, were you willing to allow time to heal your wounds? And if so, did you relationship flourish afterwards?
