Boundless was absolutely spectacular. It was an emotional roller coaster, full of action, suspenseful, and incredibly heart wrenching. It was the kind of finale that had me on edge and wondering how it would end. As the page numbers went up, I wondered how on earth there would be time for all that needed to happen. How was this the last book? But it ended well with plenty of closure and the conclusion didn’t seem rushed or too fast paced for me.
The Unearthly series gripped me emotionally, especially in Hallowed. I was invested in the lives of Clara, Christian, Angela, and Tucker. I had no idea how anything would resolve itself and found it difficult to anticipate anything. I cannot praise it enough. I’ve been walking around in a funk for a few days reading this series, which sounds like a bad thing, but I think the series just hit me emotionally and left me feeling so hopeful and sorrowful at the same time. It is a very very rare thing when a novel can have such an effect on my everyday emotions, so I applaud Unearthly for manipulating how I felt even after I closed the book.
Where do I begin when it comes to the plot? Boundless tackled so much! From figuring out Angela’s purpose to training for.. well, whatever was supposed to come.. Boundless was a full novel. While it covered many aspects of the character’s lives, it wasn’t one of those super fast paced and jumbled series enders than infuriate me. It was well paced and just when I thought there was no way something would get resolved before the book ended, it would, one way or another.
There was only one thing I didn’t like and that was one particularly “convenient” event and quite possibly the only issue that resolved itself in a way that I found to be too easy. However, I think most people preferred it. I seem to be one of the few readers who enjoy a little heart ache and want characters to die and not be saved sometimes. But I can’t fault the novel for not going there.
I highly recommend Unearthly. It started out like a normal, enjoyable, but somewhat forgettable series, but it captured my heart somewhere along the way and just won’t let it go. And Boundless was probably the best book in the series. It was certainly my favorite! I loved watching Clara grow into an adult, making difficult choices and protecting those she cared about.
