Review: Maybelline New York Baby Skin Primer

By Amogere14

Happy Monday loves!

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting a little crazy over my excitement for makeup and other beauty products. I think you already know that, judging from my recent beauty haul and lippy loving posts. I’m just seated here wondering what I was doing with my life before this. I’ll also go ahead and confess that I forgot to include this product in my beauty haul post, so I decided to use it and review it for you all.

From the title of this post, this product is a primer. A primer is basically a product that is applied either before foundation or eyeshadow that helps the makeup last longer and prevents it from running/melting throughout the day/night. The Maybelline New York New Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Lightweight Primer is used to smoothen the skin to provide a smooth base for makeup and reduces the appearance of large pores. It also mattifies the skin, prevents shine and can be worn alone or under makeup.

This primer is a translucent gel-like substance and is super soft to the touch. Once I apply it my skin instantly feels super soft and smooth like a baby’s bottom. I wish my actual skin felt this smooth all the time. I use it mostly to mattify my skin as I have quite small pores. I also love that it is fragrance-free. I tend to steer clear of skin care products that have fragrances because they cause breakouts. On the down side, the bottle is quite small and for it’s price, I do feel that it should have been a slightly bigger size. Let’s see how long it takes to finish the entire bottle.

Maybelline Baby Skin

The picture below shows makeup freshly applied with the primer. My face tends to shine at the slightest appearance of the sun so I wanted to test it out to see whether my face would remain matte until the end of the day.

I feel like I look weird in this photo lol.

Can you tell that this photo was taken before my encounter with the law? Lol. If you haven’t seen that post, click HERE. At the end of what felt like the longest afternoon ever, this is how I looked at the end of the day.

MAC Heroine

My makeup stayed in place all day. I’ll however also owe it to the fact that it was a cooler day and the sun wasn’t shining as much. I have worn this primer on a super hot day and I still ended up with a shiny face, albeit not as much.

In case you notice any difference, yes I am wearing 2 different lipsticks in the photos. I had worn the lipstick in the ‘before’ photo for one of the shots in my Lippy Loving post.

I bought this primer at Boots while still in the UK for the equivalent of Kshs.1200 (£7.99). I’m not too sure on its availability in the Kenyan market but I really hope it hits the shelves soon!

Keep warm and be safe loves.

xx
