Research in Humanitarian Crises : Opportunities and Challenges

Disaster or humanitarian crises like epidemics, famines, armed conflicts and natural disasters all contribute significant mortality, morbidity and suffering to mankind over and above the burden of diseases which is already prevalent. Humanitarian crises and disasters have been increasing both in terms of its frequency as well as ins uncertainty largely due to climate change and uncertain the socio-politico -economic situations . There is an immense need for robust research to understand the gaps in understanding to how to manage and handle such events as well as mitigate the harms caused die to this. Evidence base for current practices in humanitarian aid in crises situations is low and there are huge knowledge gaps to fill. Below is a presentation which give a very short brief on opportunities and challenges for research in humanitarian crises  including ethical issues related to it.
