Repeat Offender

By Bigcitylittleblog @feakins

This past weekend was all about repeat outfits. Neither had been worn for months, so I figured no one would notice. Still, I always feel strange recycling an entire outfit.

Especially when said outfit has been photographed and posted all over facebook/instagram/twitter. It seems to be one of the downfalls of the information age: too much sharing! Without Social Media, everyone would forget when you last wore that fabulous dress/top/trouser.

Regardless, a rich woman I am not, and I cannot afford a new outfit everyday.

Friday, my littler sister flew in from Charleston, SC where she goes to school. It was her spring break and instead of spending her days off wasting away on a Mexican Beach, she spent a few days in the Big Apple avec moi. First, we spent the afternoon shopping on 86th and 3rd Ave. I purchased a few goodies from Sephora and some killer boots from the ShoeBox:

Origins Anti-Aging Cleanser, Lancome Anti-Aging Bronzing Lotion, Bronzing Brush, and Nars Bronzer

I noticed over the last few months that I was beginning to develop some small wrinkles in my forehead. (Major sad-face.) Some friends thought I was bat-shit crazy, while others informed me that they’ve been using anti-aging creams for years to prevent such a catastrophe. I wanted something all-natural, and went with Origins. For lotion, I needed a little color as my winter skin is ghostly. I was also out of bronzer, and Nars is the only way to go.

Afterwards, I threw on my New Years Eve dress with some gold jewels and suspender tights for sex appeal. Vicky wore black on black:

Dress is TopShop (similar here), Tights are Pretty Polly (Nordstrom,) Shoes are Aldo (Similar here.) Vicky wore AA dress as a top, ruffle skirt (similar here) and Jeffrey Campbell Lita knockoffs from Necessary Clothing.

Afterwards, we headed over to Penny Farthing on 13th and 3rd for some debauchery.

Hey, they girl just turned 21. Can you blame us?

They next day we had brunch at Rue 57 on 57th and 6th (expensive, but the best) followed by shopping at Necessary Clothing in SoHo. We both picked up several items at incredible prices before heading over to DryBar for blow-outs. Finally, we joined the rest of the girls for a birthday party at Cellar 58 (would not recommend by the way) in Bowery and drinks at the Gansevoort on Park.

I recycled an outfit from the fall: a cream lace mini dress from Urban Outfitters (similar here), beaded statement necklace (also like this similar one), and tall wedged boots from Steve Madden (similar here). Vicky wore another American Apparel dress: black nylon skater with a long owl necklace (also like this one here.)

The first hour at the Gansevoort boasted an incredibly boring crowd, which seemed unusual. The pick up lines were just horrendous.

Where do you live? No, which cross streets specifically? …Have you met my father?

Just as we were about to leave, we were invited into the Red Room to enjoy  complimentary bottles in the VIP section.

Oh, hell yes.

The girls and I spent hours dancing the night away before retiring to bed around 4 am. Needless to say, I’m still hurting, but I had a damn good time.
