Recipe: How to Make a Healthy Fruit Smoothie!

By Thetastingfork
For a food blogger it is very important to find balance in their food options and diet. Eating out extensively for sure takes a toll on you, and there’s no escaping an upset stomach, weakness, increasing weight and decreasing immunity. While a lot of us hate exercise, the only option we are left with is to mend our ways with respect to the food we eat. I recently started developing a lot of easy recipes for both food and drinks, that can keep my stomach happy and keep me healthy. A smoothie was one of those. And not just for food bloggers, but a smoothie is loved by everyone else too. For a healthy and balanced living, it’s a superb option for mid-day snacks, breakfasts and a small healthy meal (though for me it can never suffice as a proper meal). Here is how I make my smoothie:Recipe: How to make a healthy fruit smoothie!
Quantity: Serves 4
Ingredients:2 bananas 1 apple1 mango¼ pomegranate (if the seeds bother you then you can leave it out too)1 Mother Dairy Yoghurt (any flavor you like. I prefer Mango)1 big bowl of Mother Dairy Dahi7-8 grapes (more grapes=sour smoothie, hence I use less)2 small bowls of Kellogg’s Muesli No Sugar Added packLots of ice
Method:Chop the apples and mango in small pieces, slice the bananas, and pop these into the blender. Leave the peel of the apple on, and make sure to put it in first, because it’s tougher for the apples to reach the blades if you throw them in last. Add the flavoured yoghurt. Put two if you want a sweeter smoothie, but for a healthier smoothie use only one flavoured yoghurt. Add the muesli, dahi and grapes (sliced) and close the lid of the blender. Let the blender be on for 15-20 seconds, open the lid then, and add ice. 7-8 cubes should be fine for 4 glasses. After adding the ice, if you want a thicker consistency to your smoothie, let the blender crush the ice only for 5 seconds. But if you want a thinner consistency, add 20-30ml of milk to it, and let the ice blend for longer. This makes the ice melt and turn into water, in turn thinning the consistency.
Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish it with pomegranate seeds or chopped mangoes, whichever you prefer.
There is no fixed recipe you need to follow for making a smoothie. Just go with the fruits that you love and let the blender blend it all together for you. If you have berries easily available then do add them. Nothing tastes better in a smoothie than strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. The smoothie I make has everything that screams healthy, hence the use of muesli too. Also, bananas are great for protein, so never make a smoothie without them. You can even freeze your bananas for a more chilled smoothie.
A great drink for any time of the day. Has become such a hit at my place that I make it for everyone at home when I make it for myself. Do let me know how you liked it :)
