It’s my favorite time of year when weekends find us following our favorite football teams, the sun falling faster bringing cooler weather and darker nights and when Carl from StainlessSteelDroppings.com hosts R.I.P. challenge, now the 9th year in a row! Y’all know I’m always up for a good mystery and thriller so having an entire community of book bloggers and fellow readers who are intent on hailing in the spooky season with some major peril only makes it all the better!

So this year I will once again be participating in Peril the First in which I shall be reading and sharing at least four said spooky tales! Now what deliciously wicked tales to choose from? Here’s what I’ve come up with so far {including three picture books for The Little Monkey}!
- A Vampire is Coming to Dinner: 10 Rules to Follow by Pamela Jane, Illustrator Pedro Rodriguez
- The Runaway Mummy, a Petrifying Parody by Michael Rex
- Bone Soup by Cambria Evans
and for me ~
You by Caroline Kepnas “a perversely romantic thriller” The Distance by Helen Giltrow “ultra-contemporary where everyone wears two faces” Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel “set in the eerie days of civilization’s collapse” The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt “an old-fashioned story of loss and obsession”Also, ironically, the book I selected for my October in-real-life book club is the same book as the R.I.P. read along with The Estella Society so I’m thrilled to be joining in on that fun! Hoping to get some especially wicked recipes and ideas for IRL book club! If you have any fave Halloween or Fall recipes you think would add to our spooky theme, please do share!

Do you find yourself drawn to the more mysterious and spooky in the Fall? What titles might you be reading these cooler September/October nights?
Don’t forget – if you’ve got any recipes or suggestions to make hosting my in real life book club especially wicked, please do share in the comments! Leave me a link to your Pinterest boards for Halloween, Fall, Food and goodness knows especially if you have a board specifically for The Haunting of Hill House that I can glean from!
and if you’re reading this on Saturday? Go Dawgs!
Happy weekend y’all!
