Random July Favorites 2015 - Food, Fashion, Fitness = FUN!

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
I’m doing something new this month by adding a post about my Lifestyle Favorites for July! I’m not sure if I will do this every month or not yet, but I had a lot of non-beauty loves in July so I thought I would share those as well. J If you missed my standard Monthly Beauty Favorites post, you can check it out here. As I said in that post, July was kind of a crazy month and I am completely exhausted! J Instead of wearing myself out with excess jabber, let’s just hop to it!

Since we’re hopping now, my first favorite are these adorable bunny flats from T.U.K. Shoes!!! How stinking cute are they?!?! I’m sure they are totally age inappropriate for me, but I don’t care. I love them. These are a super soft vegan gray suede, but I also have them in black vegan leather, coral faux suede and baby blue faux suede. Forgive me for my addiction! J My feet are insanely wide thanks to bad bunions I’ve had since I was little (the doctor told my mother I would “grow out of it” and did nothing while they expanded wider and wider), but these are perfect. They are flexible enough in the width that they don’t pinch or rub my massive hooves, plus they don’t really show the bunions either! Score! J They are a bit tight at the heel, but they don’t hurt so much as I just notice that they’re there and they stay on my feet. Adorable and wearable shoes = total win! J

You may have noticed my rather odd Nature’s Miracle High Side Litter Box review as well in July (check it out with my reasons behind trying them here). Those boxes are a definite favorite! No issues with accidents and I couldn’t be happier! They aren’t the easiest boxes to empty, but it’s a small price to pay. I am always impressed with Nature’s Miracle products and the High Side Litter Boxes are no exception.

Moving back to the fashion-ish end of things, I have been loving these open bangles from Express. I don’t know why, but when Summer rolls around I always start wearing more jewelry. I usually like bracelets a lot, but I hate it when they make noise and they usually end up looking massive on my wrists. I was quite surprised to find that these are actually not gigantic on me! I’m not sure how durable they will prove to be, but so far so good.

Sticking with “fashion” and also to Express, I am addicted to these crochet shorts. To be fair, I have only worn them a few times so far, but they are so stinking adorable as well as insanely comfortable (...and of course they're no longer online!). I’m not gonna lie. I hate shorts. Never wear them and these are the only pair I currently own. When I was getting my hair done recently, one of the stylists was wearing my ideal pair of crochet shorts (if there is such a thing), but I never had a chance to ask where they were from. Obviously I went on a mission to find them and, behold! Here they are! J They will show your underwear if they’re too bold or patterned…they are white shorts after all…so just find a nude pair and you’re good. That aside, I love that they aren’t too tight, they kind of look like a skirt but not really, and though they are quite short, they somehow don’t seem to show the cellulite on the backs of my thighs!!! Add to all of that the sale price under $20 (I would have even paid full price!) and they are absolutely perfect!

Moving along to food, I have two favorite breakfasts. They are nothing new or revolutionary, but they are so easy to make in advance and they taste good, so yes please! J One is Overnight Oats. Throw some crap in a jar, shake it up, stick it in the fridge overnight and breakfast is done. You can switch it up every day if you want, but I’ve been sticking to a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough recipe (find it here) and one for Peanut Butter and Banana (found here). I use Almond or Coconut Milk, for the protein powder I’ve been using the Vega One Vanilla, and I’ve been trying out various flavors of Justin’s Peanut & Almond Butters. Simple, tasty and vegan! For those non-vegan days, I’ve been obsessed with Egg Muffins. Same thing – make a batch and throw it in the fridge to reheat in the morning. My favorite recipe uses Tater Tots as a base (find it here), or you can make them a tad healthier with Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns (recipe here). You can also just beat up some eggs and throw them in a muffin tin. Add whatever ingredients you want, bake it and you have a nutritious and tasty breakfast in the morning! Yea. J

Finally in randomness, I have been loving my FitBit Charge HR. I don’t exactly know why I decided I needed this, but I’ve loved it. I’m not an active person. I hate exercise, but I try to make myself do it regularly anyway. I’m not big into health or fitness, but for some reason I decided that I needed a FitBit. It’s freakin’ fantastic! I mean it doesn’t look the nicest, but I absolutely love seeing my stats throughout the day. I’m making a real effort to meet my goals and feel so sad if I don’t. I changed the pre-set goals to something more realistic for my lifestyle and something that I actually thought I could achieve and I’m finding it really does motivate me to move more and exercise a bit harder or longer. I’m thinking more about what I’m eating, though I’m not using it for any real weight reason. I just feel like I’m more motivated to make healthy choices all across the board and that’s never a bad thing in my book! I may do a full review later because there is too much detail to discuss here.

I think that’s it for July. I always write that as though I’ve just written a sentence or two. J I’m so terribly long winded…or worded. It frustrates me that my posts are so long, but it’s so unnatural for me to write differently. Anyway, all of these things available online have unaffiliated links attached should you be interested in finding them for yourself. I hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into my world of non-beauty favorites. As I said above, I’m not sure this will continue every month, but let me know if you’ve enjoyed it. Let me know what some of your favorite oddities have been this month too because I’d love to hear about them!!! J Thanks for reading!!!
