Pure Joia

Pure Joia Good Food + Good Intentions = Joia
I just love blogging ~ especially doing product reviews!  The word spreads, people send me samples, and friends and family connect me to vendors they know who they think would be a good fit for The Trendy Vegan.
My friend, Corey, was up in the Rhinebeck area of the Hudson Valley for a wedding and took a part of the weekend to explore the local area.  There he discovered Joia Foods, a small company “created to bring all natural, slow-cooked foods, made from fresh local ingredients back to your table again…Authentic.  Locally sourced. Hand cut, and scratch cooked.  Healthy.  Easy-to-use.  Hip.  Cool.  And fun!”  The taste makes it clear these were made with love. “Slow-cooked in the Hudson Valley - NY, we create Joia products using select local ingredients whenever and wherever we can from farms across New York and its surrounding states, within a 300-mile radius…At the heart of Joia Modular Meals™ are traditional recipes now available as meal starters, ready  for you to finish and serve exactly the way you want."
I was put in touch with Lynn, the owner of the company, and after a brief email exchange, was the (very) happy recipient of four delicious quarts of vegan soups and puree: chick peas with herbs and vegetables, sweet & spicy black bean puree, hearty kidney bean and vegetable, and summer harvest minestrone.  The black bean puree was great combined with shiratake noodles and some diced avocado, and would be perfect atop nachos or inside a burrito.  My husband and neighbors, who shared the chick peas with herbs and veggies, were very happy too.  Admittedly they thought it was odd of me to bring stew/soup to a summer meal, but they had no problem helping me polish it off in no time.  The sliced, crusty bread we had was perfect for dipping (and cleaning the bowl…)
