33 years after dominating the theaters around the world with the Alien (1979) movie, well-known thriller-film maker Ridley Scott comes back with another addition to the famous Alien franchise, Prometheus. Which follows a different kind of a story in the same universe. Taking the audience into a future world filled with scientific myth's and controversy, the director Ridley Scott lives up to his name by bringing us another sci-fi masterpiece.

Story -

Prometheus follows a very simple story which I assume even a five-year-old would easily understand. And don't bother watching this movie if you are hoping it to be another thriller filled with human-slaughtering Alien action because Prometheus' story is not closely connected with the Alien movie. Although it does share certain areas of the previous title.
Movie takes us to the late 21st century, year 2089 to be exact, where this couple of scientists finds a cave painting showing a galaxy far far away, where they spot another earth-like planet. After receiving funds from a dying old-man, they find a team and travels into space with a robot to find the truth about the origins of humanity.
After messing around in this planet, discovering new hologram-like visions, dead aliens and stuff, these scientists gets into really big trouble when only two of the group were left behind in the planet alone, while they were running from a weird sand storm. In the meantime the weird android, David comes up with a plan to speed up the experiments by using one of the members of the team as a lab-rat. And thing's begins to get out of their hand.

Good Stuff -

Journey in another planet, filled with aliens, creepy caves, sex, mysteries, spaceships, giving birth to aliens.. what's not to like.
Cute and tough beauty, Noomi Rapace takes the lead on this movie as Elizabeth Shaw, a tough scientist who's desperately seeking for answers about human origins, while also keeping her faith on religion. Guy Pearce is also in on this movie as Charlie Holloway with Charlize Theron, who takes a minor role in Prometheus to add a little color to the movie with her sexy looks. But none of these roles can be compared to the brilliant acting of Michael Fassbender, who gives life to the character David, a human-like robot.
Story was simple and brilliant. It also managed to make few controversies around the world by denying the theories of the evolution. Visual effects are very impressive. Music and sounds effects are also amazing as always like all the previous Ridley Scott titles.

Bad Stuff -

Somehow I was a little bit disappointed of this movie. Not only because I was expecting more from this legendary director, but also because I was hoping this story to be more complicated and detailed than it is in the movie. I mean the story was simple, in fact a little too simple, which takes the fun away. It could be the reason for it to end up with just a 7.3 rating on IMDb.

Conclusion -

Overall, Prometheus was a very entertaining movie, which actually left me wondering if we humans, could actually be part of part of an alien race or not. It definitely kept me well under suspense for the entire 124 minutes. And I'm sure you would love it too. Just be sure not to enter the movie with a mind hoping to see an Alien prequel.
According to latest news reports two more Prometheus sequels are on it's way.

Did you already watch the movie? What did you think?
