The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Tuesday that the presidential elections in the country will take place on August 6.
The final approval of the proposed schedule of presidential poll was given by Chief Election Commissar Justice (r) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim.
The nomination forms for the election will be submitted on July 24 while their scrutiny will conclude on July 26. The candidates will be able to withdraw their candidacy till July 29. The final list of candidates will be issued on the same day.
The polling for the slot of President will be held on August 6 while the results will be announced on the next day.
The newly-elected president will take oath after the conclusion of incumbent President Asif Ali Zardari on September 8.
This is going to be the first time in the history of Pakistan that a democratically elected president will complete his tenure.
