Potato-corn Cheese Balls

Anything made with potato will be a palate pleaser and if there is cheese in addition,I am sure that would be keeper recipe for any party.I hope you all agree.I have seen these cheese balls recipe in menu in most of the restaurants but never tried it.Recently I saw this recipe in a book and I thought of giving it a try.I made a few changes to the recipe.The recipe called for grated cheese to be mixed with mashed potatoes but I chose to cut the cheese into tiny cubes and stuff them.I also added sweet corn kernels and that addition turned out to be brilliant.Believe me this recipe is a perfect fit for any party and kids are gonna love this cheesy treat.You can even make them ahead and freeze.Just allow them to thaw for 10 minutes to let cheese melt a bit before deep frying.Tastes great when served with chilli sauce and its for sure an eye candy too :)

Potato corn cheese balls recipe
Star ingredients:Potato,sweet corn and cheese
Time:40 minutes
Yield:10-12 balls
Potato-corn cheese balls
Ingredients:
3 large potatoes boiled peeled and mashed well
1/2 cup sweet corn kernels boiled
10-12 tiny cubes of mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoons corn flour mixed with 1/4 cup milk.
3/4 cup bread crumbs
2 teaspoons chilli powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 tablespoon kasuri methi
Salt
Oil to deep fry
Method:
1.Boil,peel and mash the potatoes well.Add sweet corn kernels to it and mix well and mash again.
2.Now take the mashed potatoes in a mixing bowl and add 1/4 cup bread crumbs,chilli powder,garam masala kasuri methi and salt.Mix well and make a dough.Do NOT add water.
Potato-corn cheese balls3.Now pinch the dough into small balls of equal size.Take one ball and flatten it with your palm.Keep one cheese cube in the center and close it.Make a smooth ball by rolling it tightly.
Potato-corn cheese balls4.Repeat the same with the whole batch.Now you can either choose to freeze them for later use or continue with the recipe.
Potato-corn cheese balls5.Take each ball and dip in the cornflour batter and immediately coat with the bread crumbs completely.
Potato-corn cheese balls6.Heat oil for deep frying.Fry the prepared cheese balls in batches till golden brown from both sides.

1.Mozzarella melts and oozes out well than cheddar cheese.
2.If you want you avoid cheese and just make potato-corn balls too.
3.You can use spices of your choice,use oregno/basil instead of chilli powder and kasuri methi for different flavor n taste.
