Portrait of the Billionaire as a Monster

Matt writes:

Not all rich people are unethical. Some become rich because they are unusually talented, or genuinely provide something that people need. I can’t really feel envious of someone like Steve Jobs or even Bill Gates. I don’t know if they deserve to be as rich as they are, but they are definitely a cut above the average schmo. The same goes for someone like J.K. Rowling. If I had the talent to write Harry Potter, I would have written Harry Potter. On the other hand, I think it is safe to say that most super rich people have cut many ethical corners, usually enough to merit jail time if they did not own the justice system.

It is the second paragraph that is the correct one.

The first one has a lot of problems that I will discuss below.

Matt, read a biography of Bill Gates and how he got all that money. He ran an Organized Crime Syndicate called Microsoft, Inc. that was not a lot different from the Mafia. Actually I have more respect for a Mafioso than I do for someone from Redmond. Mafiosos have some dignity and values. Microsofities have none.

Bill Gates was one of the worst criminals of the 20th Century. He broke every agreement he ever made, he outright stole almost all of the technology for this products, he backstabbed everyone who ever made friends with him, and there is hardly a business law he would not break. Bill Gates is obviously a sociopath. I would say he was one of the worst sociopaths in the West in the past 40 years. I would put him slightly below Ted Bundy. No, wait, Gates is worse than Ted Bundy because he hurt way more people and caused way more damage.

In addition, he was a tyrannical horror as a boss, a screaming, table pounding, raging Charles Manson like maniac who berated, insulted, humiliated and raged at his underlings constantly. Really a horrible person.

Steve Jobs didn’t steal most of his tech, I will grant him that. But I am told that as a boss, he was a complete monster who behaved quite a bit like Bill Gates above. Everyone loves the guy now that he is dead, but the truth he is he was at least as monstrous as he was angelic.
