masala recipe made with potato and gram flour
Ingredients
- potato,boiled - 2 nos
- gram flour/kadalai maavu - 3 teaspoons
- onion - 1 finely chopped
- tomato - 1 finely chopped
- green chilli - 2 nos finely chopped
- ginger,finely chopped- 1/4 teaspoon
- asafoetida - a pinch
- turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - to taste
- oil - as needed
- curry leaves and coriander leaves - as needed
- Mustard seeds,black gram seeds
- chana dal/kadalai paruppu - 1/2 teaspoon
- Peel the boiled potatoes and mash it roughly and make sure no bigger pieces.
- Heat oil and add mustard seeds and black gram seeds along with kadalai paruppu.
- Once it splutters,add curry leaves and wait till it splutters.
- Add finely chopped onions,green chillies and finely chopped ginger to it and saute it well till the onion get soft.
- Then add tomatoes and cook it till it mushy and soft.At this time,add gram flour and roast it in medium flame without burning it.
- Turmeric powder is added and enough water is added ,say approximately 1 cup.
- Add enough salt to the recipe and mix it well.Boil for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Now add mashed potato to it and give a mix and finally add asafoetida to it and give a mix.
- Switch off the flame and serve it with piping hot pooris.
