masala recipe made with potato and gram flour

Ingredients

  • potato,boiled - 2 nos
  • gram flour/kadalai maavu - 3 teaspoons
  • onion - 1 finely chopped
  • tomato - 1 finely chopped
  • green chilli - 2 nos finely chopped
  • ginger,finely chopped- 1/4 teaspoon
  • asafoetida - a pinch
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt - to taste
  • oil - as needed
  • curry leaves and coriander leaves - as needed
  • Mustard seeds,black gram seeds
  • chana dal/kadalai paruppu - 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
  1. Peel the boiled potatoes and mash it roughly and make sure no bigger pieces.
  2. Heat oil and add mustard seeds and black gram seeds along with kadalai paruppu.
  3. Once it splutters,add curry leaves and wait till it splutters.
  4. Add finely chopped onions,green chillies and finely chopped ginger to it and saute it well till the onion get soft.
  5. Then add tomatoes and cook it till it mushy and soft.At this time,add gram flour and roast it in medium flame without burning it.
  6. Turmeric powder is added and enough water is added ,say approximately 1 cup.
  7. Add enough salt to the recipe and mix it well.Boil for 2 to 3 minutes in low flame and add finely chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Now add mashed potato to it and give a mix and finally add asafoetida to it and give a mix.
  9. Switch off the flame and serve it with piping hot pooris.
