Polish Picks - 26 October 2013 w/ Nails Inc, Butter London & China Glaze
By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPigWell, I missed a week of Polish Picks again, but I actually have a good reason! J I only had one polish last week and decided it made more sense just to wait and combine weeks. So, if you’d like to see four more nail colors, keep on readin’! J
Last week, I wore no polish on for a day or two before painting on “Green Park” from Nails Inc. This formula is incredible. I really love the Nails Inc. polishes I have tried. They go on nice and even and are just the right consistency – not too thin, not too thick. This particular color is really pretty and great for Fall. It’s kind of a slate blue-green-grey. I picked it because it’s unlike any other shade I own and I really love it!
This past week, I wanted to try one of China Glaze’s holographic polishes. I chose “Strap on Your Moonboots” which is kind of a semi-holographic navy. I must admit that I was not very impressed with this polish. The first coat was very streaky and the polish itself does not have a terribly holographic look to it. In certain lighting, it definitely gave off that rainbow prism effect, but more often than that it just looked like kind of a dull blue. You win some; you lose some I guess! J
Next up is a polish from Butter London that I wasn’t so sure about when I first saw pictures of it, but now that I’ve worn it, I absolutely love it! J It is the shade “Brown Sugar” and it is gorgeous! I thought it looked quite similar to “Shag” from BL, but it actually is quite different. It is a reddish-brown with flecks of gold glitter that give a subtle touch of sparkle. It looks more red in the photo than it does in person, but it’s the best I could do. This color is really beautiful and would be great anytime in the Fall, especially for Thanksgiving! It was easy to remove too, which I was a bit concerned about with the glitter chunks in there. It didn’t really give me any trouble though, so well done Butter London! J Butter London and Deborah Lippmann really know how to do glittery polishes well.
Finally, sticking with the Butter London glitter chunks, I went with “Scuppered,” which is quite similar to “Brown Sugar,” just a totally different shade of brown. This is more of a golden-bronze with flecks of green glitter! Nice and unexpected – also great for Fall! The green is very subtle, but a nice unexpected touch. I like this polish too, though after “Brown Sugar,” it had a lot to live up to. If I had to pick one, I definitely would choose “Brown Sugar.” But “Scuppered” is lovely as well. It was just not the best follow-up to what may now be one of my favorite Fall shades! J
And that’s it for my past two weeks of Polish Picks. Hope you enjoyed and I’d love to know what you’ve been lusting after for your nails this month! J
