Shrimp and Grits
I enjoyed a casual lunch last weekend at Red Sky Cafe in Duck, North Carolina. Duck is a charming little town located in the northern portion of the Outerbanks, and Red Sky Cafe’s cozy dining room echoed it’s location.
Red Sky’s lunch menu is geared toward soup, salads and sandwiches, but the specialty of the house is the Shrimp and Grits. A large scoop of creamy grits was bathed in a creamy tomato gravy that had smokiness from bacon, and a touch of heat from Cajun-style seasonings. Our order contained 7 tender shrimp.
The dinner menu is a bit more formal, and much more eclectic, with influence from Europe, Asia and Louisiana. Red Sky serves wine, beer and cocktails, and has a children’s menu.
