I actually used up an entire
tube of lip balm! Seriously, how often does that happen? They always get lost,
or I get bored with them, or I just feel like trying something new. Not so this
time! Since I’ve been so enamored and loyal to this particular lip balm, I
figure it finally deserves a review! So what is this miracle lip product? It is the Cocoa Butter Lip Balm from Badger
Balm! This is the one in the fat tube and I’ve been using the “Creamy
Cocoa” flavor. It is wonderful and I haven’t stopped using it since I received
it! J
Firstly, let me comment on the adorableness of all of Badger Balm’s products! I just
love the little badger doing various activities on their labels. So cute! I was
initially a bit intimidated by the chunky packaging of this balm. Sounds silly,
I know, but I felt like I would end up smearing it all over my face. Not so! It
actually does make applying the balm a bit faster and easier…not that it’s a
huge challenge, but it’s an added bonus. The downside is that it’s not as easy
to slip discretely into a pocket, but an upside is that it’s harder to loose in
your handbag! J
Other than it’s size, the packaging is pretty standard. It twists up, although
it does so from right underneath the balm as opposed to the bottom of the tube.
Unlike many lip balms, this will retract as well, so if you accidentally twist
up too much product, or like to keep the balm below the top of the tube, you
can easily just twist it back into the tube! Perhaps a minor thing, but it can
make a world of difference!
The Badger Balm Cocoa Butter Lip Balms are chocked full of
great ingredients – without the yuckies in most lip products!!! J They are organic and,
like all products from Badger Balm, they are not tested on animals. However,
they do contain beeswax, so they are
not vegan. Not surprisingly, they contain cocoa butter. However, it’s not just
any cocoa butter, it is Certified Organic Fair Trade cocoa butter! The ingredient list is as follows:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Castor Oil,
Aloe Extract, CO2 Extract of Rosemary, Rosehip and Seabuckthorn
That’s it! No weird additives, no impossible-to-pronounce
chemicals, just all-natural goodness! J
As far as the balm itself goes, I cannot say enough
wonderful things about it! It is not too soft, nor is it too waxy. It glides on
with ease without being greasy or tacky. It leaves lips feeling hydrated and
protected without feeling noticeable. It is wonderful for getting and keeping
lips soft and smooth. My lips never feel dry when I use this balm! It works
nicely underneath other lip products as well, though it will make colors disappear a little faster than on bare lips, but
it’s not so slick that lipstick
slides right off your face. It’s just the perfect consistency with the perfect
amount of protection and hydration! Absolutely adore the Badger Balm Cocoa
Butter Lip Balm! J
It is a colorless balm that comes in seven different
flavors. The Creamy Cocoa has a very subtle flavor – perfect if you’re looking
for an unflavored lip balm. It has the faintest hint of chocolate, but more
like a hint of cocoa butter than the sweet sugary richness of actual chocolate.
The other flavors are:
Vanilla Bean, Poetic Pomegranate, Sweet Orange, Cool Mint,
Lime Rocket and Mocha Cocoa
I have also tried the Lime Rocket and the Poetic Pomegranate
and both have a definite flavor to them that’s true to the name, but it is not
an overwhelming flavor that you notice even hours later. There’s really a
flavor for everyone and, if in doubt, you can’t go wrong with the Creamy Cocoa!
J
The Badger Balm Cocoa Butter Lip Balms retail for $4.99 and can be found at many grocery, health
food and drug stores. They are also available at Ulta and on the Badger Balm website.
I would definitely recommend picking one up and giving it a
try. You won’t regret it! J
