Last Thursday my father and I drove from our home in London across to the Brecon Beacons in Wales. Our aim was to pop over for the day and get a nice long walk in, contributing a 'mountain day' towards my Mountain Leader qualification. We headed towards Pen-y-Fan, the tallest mountain in the area; deciding to do a basic circle taking in three peaks and starting and finishing at the same car park.
It was a beautiful day when we arrived, just a couple of clouds in the sky. Throughout the day we saw a huge amount of people enjoying the beautiful Brecon Beacons, a large group of exhausted looking soldiers and a few lost dogs! Walking for nearly 5 1/2 hours we returned to the car tired but satisfied at a good day on the hill; our route is shown above. I'll upload and post some photos from the day later this week.
