Peer Into My Makeup Bag - Roadtrip Essentials!

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig

Last week, I actually left my sleepy little town and went on a mini road trip. I think I was actually at my destination for less time than it took to get there and back! Silly, huh? J It wasn’t really worth it, but it was what it was – and it gave me an excuse to get away. Why am I rambling about all of this? I thought I would share with you the makeup items that I took with me, and then in a later post, show you what I actually used. So, let’s take a peek at what’s in my travel makeup bag!!! J

I wasn’t planning to do anything terribly out of the ordinary, so there was no need for anything that I might not use on any normal day. Given that, and the fact that I wasn’t even sure I’d really bother with any makeup, I didn’t pack a ton. Ok, maybe I did given the circumstances, but it didn’t feel excessive. And it all fit into one, albeit large, bag! J

I’m going to start with brushes. I think I did a decent job editing what I took and they really are the brushes I use all the time. I put Brush Guards on each brush to help prevent them from getting misshapen whilst in my makeup bag. I need a brush roll, but I don’t currently have one. Anyway, for the face, I brought just the following essentials:
  • 2 Real Techniques Blush Brushes (one for Powder, one for Blush)
  • IT Cosmetics French Boutique Blush Brush – absolute must have blush brush!

Then for my eyes, these are really all the brushes I absolutely need, plus maybe a few that are just useful. I also chose them in part because they have nice short handles, which makes them easier to pack. I packed:
  • 2 bdellium Tools Green Bambu 785 (blending brushes)
  • Urban Decay Blender (more like a large fluffy flat shadow brush - I use this for setting concealer with powder)
  • bdellium Tools Green Bambu 778 (flat shadow brush)
  • bdellium Tools Green Bambu 772 (small flat shadow brush)
  • bdellium Tools Green Bambu 780 (pencil brush)

For face makeup, I went for quick, easy and simple makeup products that I’ve tried and know that they work! So, here’s what I included:
  • Physician’s Formula Conceal Rx Concealer in “Fair Light”
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer in “Natural Medium”
  • BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector
  • IT Cosmetics Airbrush Illuminizer Powder (for setting concealer under my eyes)
  • Tarte Airbuki Bamboo Powder Foundation Brush (I guess this should go with the brushes, but I always use it with this foundation and only for this foundation
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Powder Foundation in the shade “Fair-Light Neutral”
I also took my Urban Decay De-Slick Powder, but that’s always in my purse for touch-ups so I forgot to photograph it!

For cheeks, I went with two simple options that I am completely in love with this month! They are:
  • theBalm InStain Blush in “Toile”
  • IT Cosmetics Vitality Cheek Flush in “Matte Sweet Apple”

Moving on to the eyes, I kept it pretty simple. I brought my ancient Urban Decay Grind House sharpener and my insanely old Shu Uemura (not cruelty-free) Eye Lash Curler as well, but I kind of forgot about them in the pictures. The only other items I brought, aside from eye shadow are:
  • Tarte The Brow Architect brow pencil
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Zero”
  • Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (sample size)
  • IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes! Mascara

For eye shadow, I brought three palettes. I brought an old favorite, a brand new palette that I’m loving, and a palette that fills the gaps and doesn’t get enough use. So, in that order (and the order from left to right in the photo), the palettes are:
  • Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette (includes a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Bourbon,” a rich brown – part of my reason for bringing it!)
  • Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette (so beautiful and such amazing quality shadows!)
  • Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Finally, we have lip products! I brought my standard lip balms as well – Badger Balm's Cocoa Butter Lip Balm in “Creamy Cocoa” and Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm in “Natural Mint & Shea Butter” for bedtime. As for colors, I brought the following:
  • OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss in “Jealous”
  • Stila After Glow Lip Color in “Electric Pink”
  • IT Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush in “Damsel”
  • Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in “Sunburst”

And that was it! It looks like a lot when typed out like this! J This is a pretty good representation of the kind of things I would use on a daily basis, though there are plenty of days I wear no makeup at all. These are all products that I love though, so now you know! If you’re curious about what I actually used, stay tuned because I will probably post that sometime next week! Hope you enjoyed and let me know what you keep in your makeup bag!
