paal payasam recipe with step by step pictures
paal payasam recipe - rice pudding/kheer recipe made with rice, milk and sugar flavored with saffron and cardamom powder served with roasted dry fruits and nuts. This is so easy to make recipe but it takes minutes to make. But this is worth the try to taste the final product.I made this payasam last saturday,we celebrate every saturday of Purattasi month, which is Tamil month and we do fasting this month for Lord Vishnu and make full meals with 3 veg sides,1 raita,1 sweet payasam along with rice, sambar and rasam.
This time for the first saturday,i made two veggies, beetroot masala vadai and this paal payasam for neivedyam and this time am missing my native as mom makes a huge platter for first and last saturday of this month.I made this in one side and made other dishes simultaneously by keeping an eye on it and stirring it.The payasam takes 30 minutes for me to make and this time i measured perfectly with the measuring cup to make enough payasam for both of us.
The below image is white on white challenge and the tutorial was posted by our fellow blogging friend,Simi, who gave so many tips and post processing images. It really helped me a lot and its been ages i took the camera and shot the random things and ingredients. That day i felt so lazy and thought of give a try on the challenge.Initially i want to give a try with raw rice or paneer, but i shot it with white bowls and plate. This shot took little time for me and i took 10 continuous photos and finally i came up with final picture.
here comes the step pictorial for the recipe,
- take 1/4 cup rice in a bowl and wash it with water and soak it before proceeding.
- Boil 500 ml milk in a heavy bottomed sauce pan and once it came to boil add the soaked rice.
- Add saffron strands to it and keep on stirring.
- Now keep on stirring to avoid sticking of rice in bottom of the pan.Once it get cooked, check the consistency and you can able to see the rice absorbs enough milk.
- at this stage, add 1/4 cup sugar to the recipe and this is sweet enough for the payasam. If you add more sugar, then you will not able to get the flavors, only sweetness is there.
- Make sure the sugar melted and well combined with rice and milk.Add cardamom powder and mix it well.
- Heat 2 teaspoon ghee and add roughly chopped cashews and add it to the payasam.
- serve piping hot or chill it in refrigerator and serve.

Asking questions are genuinely pleasant thing if you are not understanding something totally, however this article offers pleasant understanding even.
