THE TOP TEN INTERNATIONALLY BESTSELLING PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE YOU CAN’T MISS…

“A cracking read…Our Little Secret builds to a deliciously dark conclusion.” –Ruth Ware, New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in Cabin 10

Roz Nay’s Our Little Secret is a twisted tale of love, pain, and revenge that will stay with the reader long after they turn the last page.

They say you never forget your first love. What they don’t say though, is that sometimes your first love won’t forget you…

A police interview room is the last place Angela expected to find herself today. It’s been hours, and they keep asking her the same inane questions over and over. “How do you know the victim?” “What’s your relationship with Mr. Parker?” Her ex’s wife has gone missing, and anyone who was close to the couple is a suspect. Angela is tired of the bottomless questions and tired of the cold room that stays the same while a rotating litany of interrogators changes shifts around her. But when criminologist Novak takes over, she can tell he’s not like the others. He’s ready to listen, and she knows he’ll understand. When she tells him that her story begins a decade before, long before Saskia was in the picture, he gives her the floor.

A twenty-something young professional, Angela claims to have no involvement. How could she? It’s been years since she and H.P., Mr. Parker that is, were together. As her story unfolds, it deepens and darkens. There’s a lot to unpack… betrayal, jealousy, and a group of people who all have motives for retribution. If Angela is telling the truth, then who’s lying?

I won’t lie – I’ve had this book way too long, and I can’t even remember how it was added to my “TBR” (to be read) stack.  Regardless, I try to honor commitments so I’m going to go ahead and post my review, and hopefully the appropriate publisher or PR company – or maybe even the author herself – will know I finally read and reviewed the book. 😱

The story opens with protagonist, Angela being questioned by the police over her role in the disappearance of the disappearance of Saskia, the wife of her best friend and former lover, HP.   The entire story takes place in a police interrogation room, but it also adds flashbacks to help readers fill in the whole plot of the story. Angela is the prime suspect and she tells her story to Detective Novak over a two-day span.

Instead of answering the detective’s questions, she launches into a story about her days in high school when she first met HP in high school in Cove, Vermont. Angela was awkward and shy and HP was a popular athlete. They became friends and then dated senior year and fell in love.  Then everything changed when Angela went to college and time and distance separated them.

I don’t write spoilers, so you’ll have to read the book to know more….. Our Little Secret is a fast-paced, quick easy read that I couldn’t put down. It’s a short book – 228 pages – so you’ll be able to knock it out cover to cover in one sitting – because you can’t help yourself anyway!

As a debut novel, this was definitely worth reading! I say that because any book that leaves me thinking about it afterward is a plus for me. I mean, I’m still questioning some of the story and I finished the book days ago!
