One Republic, a band we've all heard of through their one hit wonder, Apologize, are back once more (previous 'new' work didn't do so well) with a new single, called Feel Again, that actually could put them back in the limelight. Ryan Tedder, lead singer, has been penning tracks for the likes of Beyonce and Leona Lewis with his time so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt for this absence and embrace this new single which seems to have taken an eternity.
Feel Again, which is such a feel-good track, gains that title in a particularly unconventional way. It doesn't make you feel good because it's jumpy and jivey beats ... it doesn't contain those. It's more uplifting and empowering and for that reason, you can't help but feel good and love the track.
It's a slow grower that begins on a tambourine and wispy undertone of music that Florence + The Machine could have made. Ryan's voice is as brilliant as ever and it's as though they never left us all that time ago.
When the chorus comes in you can't help but want to learn it and shout along at the highest peak possible ... just to uplift everybody bloody else!!!
The structure stays quite the same for the rest of the song, but you don't get bored of it and the lyrics are placed beautifully within to make that fuzzy feeling in your stomach come about time and time again - "I was a lonely soul. I can feel again." - Love that.
This sort of track can appeal to so many millions of people and I'd hope it puts this clearly very talented band back on top ... Fantastic.
Paul.
