There’s denying that One Direction is among the most popular and recognizable names in pop culture today. That’s why, to the delight of fans globally, Madame Tussauds immortalized the group by creating their wax figures. What’s more is that they are wearing the clothes the members themselves—Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik—have donated. (Note: The project was commenced when Zayn Malik was still a part of the group.)

The wax figures were first put on display at Madame Tussauds London for 12 weeks before they were brought for a world tour across museums in cities like Sydney, San Francisco, New York, and Tokyo. Unveilings in these cities had seen screaming and crying fans that lined up for hours on end, proving further the group’s phenomenal success over the years.

Lucky for us here in the Philippines, we need not fly too far for the One Direction wax figures, since, as mentioned, Madame Tussauds Singapore in Sentosa has flown them in for a limited time—specifically, until October 2015. Fans and visitors may not only see them up close but also interact with them—touch them, hug them, feel their hair, and hold their hands.

Upon seeing the figures, my cousin and I agreed that the figures, as do the other ones at the museum, looked so stunningly real down to the last detail. This is because the boys themselves lent three hours of their time to do a sitting with Madame Tussauds’ London-based studio team that took 250 measurements and over 15 months to expertly make the figures. Here’s a video on how One Direction’s Madame Tussauds wax figures came to be:
