Not too long ago I read Put A Ring On It by author, Beth Kendrick. When I saw she had another book, Once Upon a Wine, I knew I wanted to read it and I wasn’t disappointed.
We learn about Cammie Breyer who is a failed restaurant owner and instead, she’s a waitress. Then, when Cammie’s Aunt Ginger cashes in her pension and buys a vineyard in Delaware, Cammie and her cousin, Kat decide to help. They head to Black Dog Bay, where they used to spend their summers in their childhood.
You will wonder – is Aunt Ginger qualified to buy a vineyard? Heck no, she’s an ex-schoolteacher! Let’s not ignore the fact that Kat’s a retired skateboarder and Cammie is an ex-waitress. But the fact is, these women have a strong family bond and they will definitely step up to help each other so the fun begins!
Cammie sees her former boyfriend, Ian, and her long-buried feelings begin to resurface. Kat develops a website to market their future wines and Ginger makes an old family recipe of strawberry wine…. and readers will meet a retired show dog named Jacques.
This is a light, enjoyable read with a good mix of family loyalty, humor and romance along with a great little dog. In all honesty, the story is predictable, but Once Upon a Wine was a great story about three women who have courage and determination.
