Body, Mind, Spirit Magazine
I spent today visiting the birthplace and home of one of my favorite people of all time, William Shakespeare. It was an amazing experience and I am happy I went on that trip. I was inspired by his boldness and audacity to write and speak his mind. Then I came up with this, it expresses how I feel about the Nigerian government and every corrupt politician in every corner of the world.
For the bloods shed, for the chaosFor the things we did not see that hurt usFor the times when the fight tore at our heartsFor the times we feared for our lives
The times we wept for shelterOur fathers running helter skelterThe times hunger tore at us with a razorAnd the prayers we prayed for rescue
With our mouths open we waitedFor the wars that wrenched our hearts to be abatedFor the sacred cows they refused to slaughterFor the times we were awoken by their laughter
For the rescue long awaitedFor the promises long awaited, yet never fufilledFor our fathers who died in the fieldSo the sacred cows may be filled
For the times we as scape goats were treatedFor our mothers who supplicatedFor the wars that tore us apart to be abatedFor the sacred cows whom the spoils of war celebrated
Shall we fight, yes we shallThe sacred cows shall be slaughteredAnd their flesh on sticks raisedOn the fields in which our fathers toiled.
