Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 Bangkok is located near the city’s hotspots. Those into shopping will enjoy the retail district at Ratchaprasong and Siam that are a few train stops away, while those into dining and nightlife can easily hop into a cab and explore Sukhumvit 11, a hub popular among foreigners. Meanwhile, within walking distance from Oakwood are the high-end Emporium Shopping Complex and the BTS Phrom Phong Station.
Our Studio Superior apartment was laid out carefully, maximizing space to fit features of a serviced residence. Unlike hotel rooms, it has a kitchen replete of the necessities: an electric cooktop with a range hood, pots and pans, a set of kitchen utensils, dinnerware, a two-door fridge, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, a microwave, and a bread toaster.
While the studio is decorated minimally, it does give relaxing ambiance after a tiring day out. It has a comfortable queen bed with high-quality linens, as well as a cozy couch with a coffee table. Complementing these are a flat panel TV and DVD player.
The bathroom may be modestly sized, but it was absolutely spotless during our entire stay. Actually, our studio was always clean because although it is a serviced apartment, Oakwood provides daily housekeeping—an arrangement even long-staying guests can avail of.
Breakfasts are served at Admiral’s Pub & Restaurant @ 24, which as the name suggests, transforms into a chic watering hole. It serves a modest yet tasty breakfast spread.
Other facilities in the building include a swimming pool on a rooftop deck, a fitness room, a meeting room, and a car park. Wireless internet was thankfully fast during our stay.
As with other serviced apartments, service was low-key but polite and friendly. There were only a few staff members manning the reception and the lobby at any given time, yet our requests were taken care of whether over the phone or at the reception.
Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24 Bangkok is a great choice for those who prefer a cross between a home and a hotel—it presents both the advantages of a kitchen for those who prefer meals prepared on their own and the coziness of a nice bed. Their rooms are priced affordably and competitively too compared to equally deluxe accommodations in Bangkok.
