NYX Cosmetics Bought by L'Oreal

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
Last month there was controversy regarding Jordana and Milani (which turned out to be untrue – they DO NOT test on animal and are now PETA certified), this past week, NYX Cosmetics was the offender. It was confirmed last week that L’Oreal has purchased NYX Cosmetics for an undisclosed sum.

NYX has long been a cruelty-free favorite in drugstores (well, mainly Ulta stores), but now their cruelty-free status may be a thing of the past. Since L’Oreal is widely known to test on animals, it’s possible that NYX will not retain their “ethics” when it comes to animal rights. That aside, many customers will flock just because of the parent company association (I personally don’t agree with boycotting a brand solely based on their parent company, which you can read more about here). So far NYX has not addressed where they stand on animal testing post-L’Oreal, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens – but the deal is final. I wanted to make sure that you were all aware of this so that you can decide your own stance on NYX Cosmetics.
If you’re looking for some affordable alternatives to NYX, check out my initial post about Milani & Jordana where I listed other brands that are still cruelty-free here. Cosmetics Bought L'Oreal
