New Releases from Old Faces

Some big names in music are back this year after a long hiatus, so how much will their new releases live up to expectation?

New Releases – April 8th 2014

The Kooks – ‘Down’
They are back and not how you remember them. This track is a huge shift away from the indie band that last released an album in 2011. With a perky guitar rift and wails of “down down diggy”, they’ve injected some funk into their remit.

Lykke Li – ‘No Rest For The Wicked’

It’s been 3 years since Lykke Li released an album and she’s making a welcome return; this passionate song is a return to form. She’s also dropped another track, ‘Love Me Like I’m Not Made Of Stone’ to give fans a fuller taste of her new album I Never Learn which is due out 2nd May.

Klaxons – ‘Children of the Sun’

The East London quartet are back with a highly electronic feel to their latest song. There’s a Chemical Brothers influence on this tune so play it loud! This is the second song they’ve previewed along with ‘There Is No Other Time’. Their album is due for release 2nd June and is apparently going to be “classy and euphoric”.

Coldplay – ‘Magic’

Coldplay have released a mellow tune that’s basically the same and not very different from their other work. It’s simple and mellow with a warmer side. Their new album Ghost Stories is out 19th May.

The Kaiser Chiefs – ‘Coming Home’

With Ricky being on The Voice there was always going to be an album this year; Education Education Education and War is at the end of this month. This song will be a great aperitif to the festivals they’ll be playing this year. It’s soft and poignant with a big chorus.
