It’s a new year, which in the makeup world means it’s time
to release everything new for Spring! I thought I would share with you the new
cruelty free items hitting drugstore shelves right now (plus a few thoughts if
I’ve tried them already). We’re starting out with the always exciting world of Wet n Wild and boy have they been
a-chanin’ for 2016! There’s a lot so
let’s get right into it….
1 Step Wonder Gel$4.99
I have already mentioned this new polish line and I love
them! Though they claim to last 2 weeks, I find on my nails it’s more like 4-5
days (my nails chip and peel horribly
and quickly most of the time so that’s actually great wear for me). The shine
is ok, but not out of this world, but the formula is thick and opaque which
makes it resemble gel a bit more. Not to mention the lighter shades go on
nicely with just 2 coats for shades that might normally take at least 3. I have found that some shades seem to
produce air bubbles on the nail, but nothing too noticeable. Love these (and have
picked up waaaay too many)! J
Color Icon Blushes$2.39
They have repackaged and apparently reformulated these, as
well as added a few shades. The shades I have seen thus far are “Pearlescent
Pink,” “Mellow Wine” and the new shade “Rosé Champagne.” I believe there are
at least 2 more new shades available (“Fantastic Plastic Pink” and “Apri-cot In
the Middle”) but I haven’t seen them in person yet.
MegaGlo Contouring
Palette $4.99
This is another repackaged and reformulated item I believe
it was a Walmart exclusive, but now
is everywhere. There are two
shades, both of which contain a buttery smooth contour powder and matte highlight powder.
MegaGlo Illuminating
Palette $4.99
Another entry on the reformulated front. It appears to only come
in one shade, “Catwalk Pink,” and contains 4 strips of different highlighting
shades. The texture is nice, but it is a bit on the glittery side, so not my
favorite. Pretty shades though and the strips are big enough to pick just one
if you choose!
Illumin-Naughty
Highlighting & Concealing Pen $4.99
It is as it sounds – though I doubt it’s naughty. You get
highlighting and concealer in a click-up pen. I’m so glad to see an affordable cruelty free brand make something like
this. I believe there are 3 shades available and not much on either the
lightest end or the deepest end of the spectrum, unfortunately.
PhotoFocus Setting
Spray$4.99
I’m far from an expert on setting sprays, but this one seems
nice. The product sprays out in an even and gentle mist that’s pleasant on the
skin.
PhotoFocus Eyeshadow
Primer$4.99
This may be the old Fergie shadow primer repackaged in the
traditional Wet n Wild line, but I don’t know that for certain. I’ll be
thrilled if it works on my crease-prone eyes! J
PhotoFocus 10-Pan Studio
Eyeshadow Palettes $6.99
I believe these are the old Fergie Shadow Palettes
repackaged and I’m guessing reformulated, possibly with a few more shade ranges
available. I’m kind of kicking myself for not paying more attention to these
because Wet n Wild usually does eyeshadow really well!
ProLine Felt Tip
Eyeliner$3.99
There is a new fine-tipped liquid liner pen that I believe
comes in black and brown. I’m not a big liquid liner person, but curiosity bit
me and I picked up the black.
ProLine Graphic
Marker Eyeliner $3.99
This is a marker-like felt-tipped marker with a slant. Not a style of
liner I am even remotely good at using, but for some it might be perfect. The
shades I remember were black, brown and blue.
MegaLiner Liquid
Eyeliner $2.99
If a pen-style liquid liner isn’t your thing, this is the
reformulated ink-well style liner. I believe this came in a variety of colors –
I remember black, brown, blue and purple – but I stuck to standard black…and
then picked up the purple.
H20 Proof Felt Tip
Liquid Eye Liner $3.99
If you need a waterproof version of the MegaLiner, this is
for you. Again, it’s an ink-well style liquid eye liner. If my memory serves me
(it rarely does) this came in black and brown and has a slightly thicker tip
than the MegaLiner.
Ultimate Brow Mascara $4.99
Yes! A tinted brow mascara from Wet n Wild!!! Tested this out the other night and it looks promising! Not sure how it wears yet, but it actually did make my brows look a bit fuller, even and more defined. There are so few
cruelty free brow products like this and none from the drugstore that I can think of (though
Milani is also introducing a fiber version!). This is only available in 2 shades – blonde
and brown. Not a great range, but a start.
MaxFanatic Cat Eye
Mascara $5.49
I’ve never had much luck with Wet n Wild mascaras, but I
thought I’d give this a try anyway. There was another new mascara in a pink
tube too, but I’m not sure of the name. Anyway, this has a plastic bristle “fan
brush” that looks interesting and it claims to give 8x the Volume, 8x the Curl,
and 35% Longer lashes.
Synthetic Brushes 99¢ to
$2.99
Wet n Wild has also added a full line of synthetic brushes!!!
I was surprised a while back when they had a limited release of brushes because
they were real hair. Very disappointed by that, but now they have not just a
few, but a full line of affordable (and adorable!) synthetic brushes! They run
from 99¢
to $2.99. I didn’t pick any up yet because there’s just so much stuff, but they look promising and so affordable! J
Brush Cleansing Wipes
These are intriguing. They’re like makeup removing
towelettes, but for brushes!
Ombre Blushes $4.99
Finally, there are some beautiful
(at least in pictures) Ombre Blushes that I believe are a Target exclusive. I
haven’t seen these yet, though they are on Target’s site, but not available for
shipping. I think there are 3 shades and I must find them all!!! J
In addition to this crap ton of new products, Wet n Wild also
revamped their website (it has a new address too: wetnwildbeauty.com). You can finally order directly from the
site!!! Definitely a welcome addition as some products can be nearly impossible
to find (and I believe they are selling the limited editions online too!!!).
I hope you found this helpful as there are so many new products coming out for
Spring 2016. I’m pretty sure I’m
missing some things, so please let me know if I have anything wrong or you know
of more Wet n Wild items. Stay tuned as I hope to have a few more posts like
this for the other cruelty free drugstore brands. J
