After the abomination that was Nelly's last hit, Hey Porsche, it comes as a massive shame that his new single, which features Daley (someone we actually quite liked), is just as terrible ... if not worse. There's absolutely no originality to this man and, unfortunately, we really do think Nelly needs to throw in the towel now before he becomes nothing more than a Flo Rida wannabe.
It comes in with Daley's vocal. We're very aware that Daley is a very capable singer, so this begs the question, why the hell has this been dragged through so many synthesisers and vocoders that it barely resembles a human being anymore?!
Soon after, the same old humdrum acoustic guitars are used and the song, from then, really does get exceedingly old, exceedingly quickly. You'll feel like you've heard it before and, honestly, it's because you already have time and time again in what used to be considered hip-hop/rap/R'n'B.
The new take on these genres is a real sham in music. There's no real music that is made anymore and the likes of Flo Rida and Nelly, who seem to resemble each other at this moment in time, really showcase what is wrong with it over and over. The vocals that Nelly puts down are shameful, unappealing and could have been written in the same space of time that it takes to make a cup of tea (if not much less time than that).
It's unfortunate that Daley has taken this road to getting his name out there because we know that he is capable of much greater things. However, we don't see this doing nearly as well as the croc single, Hey Porsche, did for Nelly and hope that this means that Daley still has a shot at the limelight.
This has, unfortunately, been a big old waste of time and the sooner Nelly retires, the better.
Paul.
