NARS x Christopher Kane Neoneutrals Lipglosses - OMG!

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
Recently NARS collaborated with Christopher Kane, a young British fashion designer, for the limited edition Neoneutrals Collection. I didn’t pay much attention to the collection until I saw Tati’s (aka GlamLifeGuru), review on YouTube and immediately decided I needed to try at least the lipgloss. Unable to settle on one shade, I actually bought three of the four offerings. The pale nudish shade called Nucleus just didn’t appeal to me on any level, so I tested out Glow Pink, Nebulous and Mezmer. So, so glad I did! J

Top to Bottom: Mezmer, Nebulous & Glow Pink

Firstly, these glosses look quite different in the tube than they do when initially swatched. Do not be fooled by the immediate color on your skin because they absolutely 100% will change color. They begin very sheer with just a barely there hint of either a pinkish-purple (Glow Pink), a touch of orange (Nebulous), or a bit more intense bright pink (Mezmer). They apply to the lips exactly the same. It almost looks like you’re applying a clear gloss. However, wait a few seconds and they definitely start to deepen. Leave them for a minute or two and you have a distinct color change. They are definitely not full-on opaque glosses, but more of a subtle lip-enhancing type of gloss-stain. That is exactly the kind of thing that I find absolutely perfect for everyday wear!

As I just mentioned, these are definitely a stain-type gloss. The shine will fade, but the color will last pretty much all day without touchups. It does fade a bit in intensity as time goes on, but I find that my lip shade is definitely still deepend with a touch of the gloss shade even by the end of the day. I am personally a huge fan of staining products, but most of them tend to fade unevenly or dry the lips out quite a bit. The Christopher Kane for NARS Glosses definitely are not that breed of lip product! Like I said, the color is not as intense by the end of the day, but it is slightly faded. The genius part is that it actually fades evenly!!! There is absolutely no difference from one part of my lip color to another. At no point does the stain-gloss cling to dryness or accent cracks or lines in the lips. And it is not even remotely drying! Being a gloss, it lends itself to being more of a hydrating product, but even after the gloss has worn away and just left behind the stain, my lips feel just like they would had a lip balm just worn off. Perfection!

(I swear there's a difference in person, but it is subtle.)

My only other criteria would be texture. I’m not the biggest fan of lipgloss in general, but these are remarkably comfortable. They have a gel-like consistency, which can make them feel almost a bit thick, but I don’t find that to make them uncomfortable. What I worry about most with lipgloss, aside from longevity, is stickiness. These glosses are not even remotely sticky!!! Since they are on the thicker side, you can feel it if you rub your lips together, but there’s no tackiness, grittiness, stringiness (the worst!) or even a subtle touch of stick. That does mean the shine wears away somewhat easily, but since it’s staining the color sticks behind. For me, it’s more about color than shine.

I must say I am not sure that I have ever found another lipgloss that I like as much as the Neoneutral Glosses by Christopher Kane for NARS!!! They are incredibly comfortable, the texture is pleasant, the staying power is fantastic, the gradual fade is even and subtle, there is no unpleasant scent or taste, and the shades are great Spring/Summer everyday wearable shades that add a bit of a pop without screaming in your face. I actually don’t want to love these as much as I do because the collection will only be around until it sells out and I am so tempted to buy a few backups! My favorite shade is really a toss up between "Nebulous" and "Glow Pink." I like them both equally it just depends on whether I’m feeling a bit more peachy-orange-coral, or if it’s a pinky-purple kind of day. "Mezmer" is nice, but it’s a bit more of an intense bright shade that I don’t think suits my coloring as well as the other two. Overall, the Neoneutral Lipglosses from NARS are absolute winners and I would definitely recommend them!
