My grandson, Dylan, is just like me – a bookworm! He loves to read whatever he can get his hands on and he just turned 5. When Dylan was reading at 4, I told my son the only thing HE wanted to do with books when HE was 4 was to rip the pages out! Reading has definitely skipped a generation in our family since, as most of you know, I love to read too! Maybe he gets it from his mother though since she does read…..
Anyway, when I heard about these books by Nancy Guettier with these amazing illustrations, I just knew Dylan would LOVE them so I agreed to review them and provide my review. Here’s what I know about Ms. Guettier:
“Nancy Guettier is a singer-songwriter and a children’s book author who finds the inspiration in each of her adopted children to write entertaining and educational stories. Guettier has very cleverly included educational twists in each of her books, and her whimsical and fun style makes learning effortless. Nancy donates a portion of the Nancyland book proceeds to Habitat for Humanity.
The five-book series from prominent publisher, Morgan James Kids, includes: Mermaids on Mars, Roy G. Biv is Mad at Me Because I LOVE PINK!, Circus in the Sky, Jude’s Moon and I Wish.
Sharing a little about each book in this series, Mermaids on Mars is an award-winning book which was recently completed as a short film and won Best Animated Short Film at the 2015 Carmel International Film Festival, and has also been accepted into several other upcoming film festivals. “This is a whimsical story about mermaids – when they lived on Mars. Mermaids thrived in Mars’ crater pools and used up all of the water resources, splashing around. Thanks to a very cool rocket ship, the mermaids traveled to Earth and settled in our oceans. This book also helps children learn the importance of water conservation.”
“Roy G. Biv is Mad at Me Because I LOVE PINK! is centered around Genevieve who loves splashing in puddles after a rain shower. Mostly, Genevieve loves pink; however, pink is not a color in the rainbow. Understandably that upsets Roy G. Biv, who convinces her to experience all the colors of the rainbow.”
“Circus in the Sky is a little gem that is a delightfully entertaining read. Julian dreams that he is the ring leader of the constellations in Circus in the Sky. He discovers Leo the Lion, the Gemini twins and the rest of the sky’s 88 constellations.”
“In Jude’s Moon, Jude loves the moon so much that he believes he is the one who hung it in the sky. Throughout the story, Jude examines the phases of the moon, as well as fun facts about the sun.”
Guettier’s most recent book, “I Wish” is about friendship and the importance of a best friend. “Genevieve and Ariana find a magic wand and are excited to explore all of the magic it can provide. They learn, however, that despite their whimsical journey of wishing, dreaming and discovering, all they really need is each other.”
“Adopting my children was a blessing and they inspired me to pour my creativity into writing children’s books,” said Guettier. “It’s important to me to provide kids not only entertainment, but educational value as well. My hope is that children around the globe will love these books so much, they will read them again and again.”
Just as I suspected, Dylan LOVED these books. The reading level was right up his alley and as soon as he opened the package, he started right in on reading these books. After a few weeks I asked him about the books, and he said he loved them!
Now that these books have officially been “Dylan tested and recommended” if you want to learn more about Nancy Guettier’s books, you can head over to her Official Website HERE.
I received these books without cost in exchange for my honest review.
