Nails of the Week w/ Zoya & Julep - 04 May 2013

It's been a while since I've actually posted my Nails of the Week at the end of the week, but this week, I'm on top of things! :) Thus, I bring you my Nail Polish Picks of the Week! And I apologize in advance for my poor application skills! :)

I started out with "Heidi" from Zoya. I really love "Heidi" for sunnier days and we've had quite a bit of sun lately...finally! :) So I pulled out "Heidi," which is kind on reddish-orange. It's not a color I would normally gravitate towards, but once I bought it, I really liked it!

Next, I decided on another sunny color. It is the perfect pastel yellow creme from Julep called "Blake," and I love it! It's difficult to find a pastel yellow, and even more difficult to find one that's not insanely streaky. Though "Blake" is not perfect in terms of streakiness, it does apply more evenly than most yellows I have tried. Really loved this color as well!

Finally, I placed a rather large Zoya order during their Earth Day Promotion (all polishes were half price, except for the Pixie Dust polishes - I picked 2 of those as well). I immediately grabbed one of the Pixie Dust shades I had picked out, and on my nails it went! It is Zoya's "Destiny." I really love the color of this polish. I guess I would call it a coral with a matte gold-glitter-filled finish. It looks similar to "Heidi" in the photos, but it's looks lighter and a hint more pink in person. I hadn't tried the Pixie Dust finish polishes before, and they're interesting. They feel kind of like very, very fine sandpaper - not scratchy, but subtly rough. They really do sparkle quite a bit, but not in a juvenile way like most glitter. "Destiny" just looks bright and summery to me. I can't decide if I love the finish, or if it's just ok, but is definitely different and it is pretty. So, a beautiful color, but I'm still deciding whether the finish is just ok, or stunning - I think I'm starting to lean towards stunning! :) The picture doesn't really do the finish justice because you don't see how the light makes it sparkle, but you get the general idea.
