Nail Rock Nail Wraps fail

Nail Rock wraps kit

Last Saturday I decided that I wanted to treat myself but was a bit low on pennies, so I decided to tootle along to Boots in the hope of finding something in the £9 price range I had available with my Boots Advantage Card points. I always save up my points for a little treat when the budget is under strain. On my wishlist were some nail wraps and although there wasn't a big variety there were some very cute polka dot wraps by Nail Rock for £6.50.
I've never used wraps before but really wanted to try them because I wanted something that was chip proof and longer lasting than polish. As I was a complete nail wrap novice I read the instructions and followed each to the letter. It didn't seem too complicated so I used the nail polish remover wipe provided, shaped my nails, pushed down my cuticles and lightly buffered my nails with the nail file provided.  I then proceeded to apply the wraps as explained by placing them on the nail, cuticle first and applying pressure to smooth them out and make them stick.
It was quite a long and slightly tedious process but it wasn't too difficult and once applied they looked amazing. However, after I had applied them I noticed that a lot of them weren't sticking very well and peeling away from the edges of the nails. After literally having them on for an hour they looked really tatty because they were peeling away so I removed them. I  just kept the wraps that had fixed well on a couple of fingers and painted the rest in Boots No 7 Foxglove (you can read a review of this polish here)

When they had just been applied they looked ok

They quickly started lifting away from the nails as you can see here

At the time I was really quite annoyed as the wraps had been a treat and to be honest I felt quite ripped off as they only lasted about an hour. However, the wraps that stayed on lasted for 5 days and still looked neat and pristine against the chipped nail polish on the rest of the nails.  This leads me to think that I must have made a mistake whilst applying the wraps, although I do not know what the mistake was! If you wear nail wraps have you got any ideas of what could have gone wrong? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for less expensive wraps that I could practice with until I master the nail wrap application?
