My Kitchen Project (Leftovers Edition): Spanish Sardines Macaroni
This is not an original recipe but this is what I decided to whip up when I did an inventory of food inside our ref and found a half-full bottle of Spanish sardines, wilting sweet basil leaves and a container of cooked macaroni. I know macaroni and sardines are not exactly bagay, but macaroni is still pasta noodles so keber!
Ingredients:
Cooked macaroni noodles
Minced garlic
Olive oil
Chopped basil leaves
Spanish sardines, flaked or chopped. Set the oil aside.
Grated cheese (I used Quezo de Bola coz that's what I have in stock)
Salt and pepper to taste
Chili flakes (optional)
Lemon rind (optional)
To make:
Saute garlic in olive oil until soft. Then, add sardines and its oil. Let it simmer for a minute or two. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add cooked macaroni noodles and chopped basil leaves and gently toss until well coated with oil and flaked sardines. Serve with a sprinkle of chili flakes, lemon rind, and grated cheese on top.
Enjoy.
I encourage everyone to avoid food wastage. Madaming nagugutom! As you can see, you can still make use of your leftover ingredients as long as they're not yet spoiled or past their expiration date. Leftover meals are also easy to revamp with a little creativity. I'll try to share revamped meals in the future so wait for it!
