Blogs Up North Blog On 2013

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted about attending Blog On in Manchester.  Well on Sunday I went along to the event organised by Laura from Tired Mummy of Two at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.

I was feeling nervous and excited when I jumped into the car with the rest of the Yorkshire possy; Mumma Melio, Monster’s Fun House and Trouble Doubled.  It was my first major blogging event and I had no idea what to expect.  Would anyone talk to me?  Would I just end up say on my own like a loner?

Well I needn’t have worried.  When I arrived I was greeted by some extremely friendly faces who quickly made us feel very at home.  Once I had sorted my badge (oh yes, I was very official for the day!) I was delighted to see the very familiar face of Jenny from The Brick Castle.  I know she has been going through a tough time at the moment and it was great to see her smiling and be able to give her a little hug, rather than a ‘virtual’ one.

Having a wander round I saw a few familiar faces of people I had either briefly met at blogging meet ups or just from their pictures online and it felt like I was in a room of friends.   I then bumped into another fab blogger that I consider to be a great friend, Pippa from Red Rose Mummy.

Anyway, enough of spreading the love, onto the day itself!  As I said, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.  A bit of mingling took place with the fab brands that had made their way to Blog On including Legoland Discovery, Swizzels Matlow, Kaleidoscope, Soda Stream, and The Essential One amongst others.

Laura then gave a great introduction and gee’d us all up for the day ahead before handing over to John Arnold who gave us some absolutely great tips about photography.  I felt like I learnt so much and can’t wait to put everything he told us to the test.  All I need now is a decent camera!

Following this we all split off into three different rooms where we had talks on working with brands, beautiful blogging and the law side of things.  These were hosted by some great people and fabulous ‘famous’ bloggers and I really felt like I picked up some great tips.

The day was finished off with a raffle before we were all laden down with some absolutely amazing goody bags packed full of fabulous things for us and our families.

The venue was a great place too.  Although I didn’t see much of the museum it certainly looked like an interesting place and somewhere I would definitely like to visit as a family.

I am so pleased I attended Blog On – when I booked my ticket I wasn’t sure whether I would go or would chicken out with nerves!  It has definitely given me a renewed confidence and a desire to continue in this great blogging community.

I can’t wait for next year’s Blog On!
