Once a month, I participate in the "By Invitation Only...." bloggers group where we all write about a specific topic, it's always a lot of fun & great to see everyone's take on it.
This month our brief is "an item for autumn that you cannot do without....."
Autumn, as you know, is my most favorite fashion season....boots, scarves, wool & layers plus more layers.
My must-have this season though, is the Chelsea Boot.
Apparently, the original design of these boots with the elastic gusset, is credited to Queen Victoria's bootmaker.....the Queen is said to have walked & ridden in them....who knew?!
Hugely popular in the UK in the 50s & swinging 60s, they were worn by everyone from The Rolling Stones to Jean Shrimpton & The Beatles & their association with the King's Road set led to the name "Chelsea boots".
I've got a very battered faded tan pair which I've had for years & which I love....I mostly wear them now for tramping across Hampstead Heath in the winter.
I'm on the hunt for a shiny black pair, although I do love a chunky boot too....lots of great designs currently at Office & Asos, Frye always have the most beautiful leather boots which look as though they would last forever, love these from Seven Boot Lane & how fun are these fab neon Chelsea boots from Wolf & Badger?!
